Description

The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, also known as the Tryambakam Mantra, is a verse from the Rigveda (7.59.12) addressed to Tryambaka, 'The Three-Eyed One', an epithet of Rudra (Shiva). It is chanted for longevity, warding off untimely death, and spiritual liberation.

📖 Meaning

We worship the Three-Eyed One (Lord Shiva), who is fragrant and nourishes all beings. May He liberate us from death for the sake of immortality, even as the cucumber is severed from its bondage (to the creeper).

Benefit

Grants longevity, good health, and protection from untimely death.
